Puri first Vande Bharat Express train was inaugurated on 18 May 2023 between Puri and Howrah Junction. This was the first Vande Bharat Express which directly connected Odisha and West Bengal. Puri’s first Vande Bharat Express was also the first Vande Bharat Express for Odisha and the second Vande Bharat Express for West Bengal. Odisha received the first Vande Bharat Train almost 4 years after starting India’s first Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

Puri’s first Vande Bharat Express was started with 4 AC Chair Car and 2 Executive Chair Cars coaches. The train is doing a very good occupancy rate during every ride so the railway has decided to give Puri a second Vande Bharat between Puri and Rourkela. Puri Howrah Vande Bharat covers a distance of 499 km in 6 hours and 20 minutes with an average speed of 78 km/h. Puri First Vande Bharat Express stop at Kharagpur Junction, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack Junction, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road Junction between Puri and Howrah.

Puri Second Vande Bharat Express Train Route will cover a distance of 525 km between Puri and Rourkela in just 7 hours and 30 minutes. Currently, the fastest train between Puri and Rourkela is the Tapaswini Express takes 10 hours and 20 minutes to cover a distance of 525 km. The Vande Bharat train on this route will be 3 hours faster than other trains.

Puri Second Vande Bharat Express Train Stop

According to the sources Puri Second Vande Bharat Express Train will stop at Kudra Road Junction, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack Junction, Angul, Talcher, Sambalpur Junction and Jharsuguda Junction between Puri and Rourkela. Puri Second Vande Bharat will operate along the Puri-Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Angul-Rourkela route, serving the transportation needs of passengers travelling between the coastal and western regions of Odisha.

When Will Puri Second Vande Bharat Express Train Start?

As per the media reports, Puri Second Vande Bharat Express Train is likely to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last week of September 2023.
